In different places, slaves were treated very differently. In Africa, slaves were held, based on tribes; however, in America slavery was based on race.
Slaves who worked in Africa had a much more welcoming atmosphere than the American slaves because of the freedom that the slaveholders gave them. The freedom was still very low in Africa, but it was far better than American slaves freedom.
